Delhi Capitals is struggling to find consistency in this season of the IPL. A couple of times, Delhi players have been found guilty of breaching code of conduct. At once instance, things got more ugly that you expect it to be. Now, the young Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw is in radar for crossing the lines.

Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for violating the code of conduct. Prithvi Shaw has been found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct against the Lucknow Super Giants. Shaw has accepted his mistake, however, it is not clear what mistake he did. However, it is speculated that he made some unacceptable signs towards the Lucknow Super Giants players which is completely prohibited under the IPL code of conduct. 

According to an IPL press release, “Prithvi Shaw of Delhi Capitals has been reprimanded for breaching the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and forfeiting match fees.” 25 per cent fine imposed.”

The press release further read “Shaw pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the punishment. For a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the match referee is final and binding.”

Prithvi Shaw could not make any significant contribution to the team. Short ball on off stump has been his weakness in this IPL and bowlers have exploited it effectively against him.

Throughout the match, Lucknow Super Giants looked settled and rather very advancing compared to Delhi Capitals. From 4th to 9th over of the second innings, it Pant and Marsh were on rampage and it looked that Delhi is gripping the match tightly. However, a brilliant spell from Mohsin Khan denied Delhi Capitals their second victory in a row.

In the end, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Delhi by 6 runs and elevated themselves to the second position in the points table. Batting first, Lucknow had scored 195 runs, in front of this score, Delhi could only make 189 for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Delhi Capitals has slipped to sixth position after this defeat.
