Argentina striker, Mauro Icardi scored his 10th goal in nine games to put hosts, PSG ahead after 17 minutes.

Angel di Maria doubled the advantage midway through the first half.

Julian Draxler missed a glorious opportunity to add a third goal for his side. He was put through on goal by Di Maria’s pass in the second half while Edinson Cavani scooped a shot over the crossbar in injury time.

Nonetheless, PSG moved to 33 points ahead of second-placed Marseille who will visit second-bottom Toulouse on Sunday while Lille grabs the seventh position.

The Brazilian forward, Neymar, had been out of action since he injured his hamstring while on international duty in October.

He has featured in six games only for PSG this season. However, in the match against Lille, Tuchel started with Kylian Mbappe on the bench due to an illness while selecting Argentine Icardi ahead of Edinson Cavani to spearhead the attack.

Neymar delighted the home crowd with some fine touches as the hosts continued to threaten. They doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark when Di Maria found space in the box to curl a finish into the far corner.

Neymar managed 65 minutes of action before being replaced by Kylian Mbappe.

The visitors, Lille lost assistant coach, Joao Sacramento to Tottenham following Jose Mourinho’s appointment this week.

The club was unable to hurt the French Champions despite Lille midfielder, Xeka forcing a good save from Keylor Nava in the opening minutes.

Following the match, Tuchel said, “No, I am not worried. I do not know if it is normal. I was not expecting big things from him after six weeks out. That is a lot for somebody like him, who needs rhythm in everything he does.”

Paris Saint Germain will look to maintain their perfect Champions League group stage record away to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
