PSG Offers Kylian Mbappe £125m Over two Seasons In An Attempt to Persuade him to Stay at the Club.
In order to keep Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly willing to pay £125 million (€150 million) over two seasons.
Mbappe’s contract with the French giants expires this summer, and he is largely anticipated to join Real Madrid after years of being sought by the Spanish capital.
The 23-year-old, on the other hand, has left fans speculating about his future after sending a cryptic message in which he hinted that ‘new elements’ might decide whether he stays at PSG.
But Spanish journalist Guillem Balague thinks those ‘new circumstances’ relate to money and Mbappe’s wish to have Madrid pay him more than the £125m PSG are giving, with the Frenchman’s heart still set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
‘You might have heard that Mbappe is considering new ‘circumstances’,’ Balague tweeted. ‘ Some interpreted this to mean that he intends to stay at PSG.
‘What are those ‘circumstances?’ PSG wants to pay him €150 million over two seasons. He still wants Real to pay him more, and he wants to go there. No other club involved.’
Karim Benzema, who scored a hat-trick against Chelsea in Tuesday, recently stated that Kylian Mbappe would be an excellent ‘third star’ at Real Madrid alongside him and Vinicius Junior, adding that they could score three times as many goals if he joined.
‘We get along well with Mbappe because we know what the other will do,’ Benzema told L’Equipe.
‘For example, we both prefer to go left, but we’ll never be there at the same time: one will go inside, while the other will dive deeper.’
‘I enjoy playing alongside him for the national team and would like to do so with the club.’ I believe we would score twice as many goals. ‘Perhaps even three!’
Mbappe once again displayed his world class powers at the Parc des Princes at the weekend, scoring twice and collecting three assists as Mauricio Pochettino’s side moved one step closer to winning Ligue 1 by thrashing Lorient 5-1.
The PSG star was asked over the weekend if he planned to stay in Paris or leave the French club in the summer, and he was evasive in his response.
‘I haven’t made the decision, but there are new elements,’ he told reporters.
‘What are they? New elements [laughs]. I’m calm, trying to make the best decision with my loved ones.’
PSG have made it clear that they want to keep the 23-year-old, but time is running out for them to convince him to commit his future to the club.
The speculation regarding Mbappe’s future does not appear to be affecting his performances on the pitch.
Following his virtuoso display in the French capital on Sunday, he now had 17 goals and 13 assists to his name in Ligue 1 this term, meaning he has been directly involved in more goals than any other player in the division.
