This will be the second game for Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing PSL season with Islamabad making their first appearance in the PSL 2022.
Peshawar Zalmi has won their first match of the season against Quetta Gladiators by chasing a massive 191 runs target with two balls to spare. Hussain Talat & Shoaib Malik starred for Zalmi’s in the chase with Malik guiding Zalmi to a stunning win by scoring 22 runs in the penultimate over. Hussain Talat’s 52 runs along with Shoaib Malik’s unbeaten 48 guided their side over the lien in an enthralling run chase.
However, Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling department looked ineffective as expect Usman Qadir no one turned up with Quetta batters smashing them all around the aprk. Despite loopholes in their bowling line-up Peshawar Zalmi managed to beat Quetta Gladiators & win their season-opening match. But with a challenging encounter awaiting Zalmi’s bowlers need to step up & scalp quick wickets for their team to win.
Islamabad on the other will play their first match of the PSL 2022. Till now they are the most successful team in the history of PSL with two titles registered to their name. During last season, though Islamabad finished at the top of the Points table they couldn’t make it to the finals after being defeated by Multan Sultans in the Qualifier & Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator match. Heading into the seventh edition of PSL, Islamabad will try to replicate their last year’s performance.
Islamabad United will be led by Shadab Khan in this season of PSL also. Along with Shadab, they have the services of big names like Alex Hales, Marchant de Lange, Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali, Hasan Ali, and Paul Stirling. Meanwhile, Reece Topley has withdrawn his name from the tournament. Can Shoaib Malik & Co register their second consecutive win of the season or will Islamabad continue on their winning ways from last season? It’s a wait & watch thing.
