The eighth match of the Pakistan Super League(PSL) 2022 will have Islamabad United take on Multan Sultans on Tuesday at National Stadium in Karachi.

Islamabad United have made a positive start to their campaign. Shadab Khan and Co. won their first game against Peshawar Zalmi by 9 wickets. 

 

Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf ran through Peshawar Zalmi’s top order as they lost four wickets for just 35 runs. However, the bowlers failed to pick another wicket for the next eight overs. Valuable contributions from Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford, and Cutting helped the team post a 168-run target in the first innings.

 

Islamabad United, in reply, chased down the score pretty easily. Paul Sterling and Alex Hales gave the team a blistering start as the duo added 78 runs in the first six overs. Sterling, eventually, got run out after scoring 57 runs in 25 balls. 

 

Alex Hales. however, stayed unbeaten till the end as he managed to score 82 runs in 45 balls, a knock which was laced with 13 fours and 1 six. R Gurbaz also stayed unbeaten on 27 runs in 16 balls. Thanks to all those contributions, Islamabad United chased down the score in 15.5 overs.

 

On the other hand, Multan Sultans have been on a role. They have managed to win all three games played in the tournament thus far. Multan Sultans are coming into the game on the back of a 6-wicket win in the list ball thriller against Quetta Gladiators.  

 

M Rizwan and Co. batted first and managed to post a 174-run total in the first innings. Masood led the way with the bat as he scored 88 runs in 58 deliveries, including 6 fours and 4 sixes. 

 

Skipper M Rizwan, however, got out for nought. Later, Rilee Rossouw (21 off 19) and Tim David (28 off 16) also made valuable contributions with the bat. 

 

The second innings saw Khushdil Shah opening the bowling spell for Multan. He sent both the openers back to the hut inside the first 5 overs. 

 

Wickets kept falling thereafter and the equation later came down to 8 runs needed off the final 6 deliveries. David Willey bowled a superb last over as he gave away only 1 run, thereby helping the team win the game by 6 runs. Imran Khan, Khushdil Shah, David Willey all picked 3 wickets each.
