Multan Sultans have registered a comprehensive 7-wicket win over Karachi Kings in the first match of the PSL 2022 to earn their first points in the tournament on Friday in Karachi. Karachi Kings batted first and could only manage to score 124 runs in the first innings.

Sharjeel Khan was the only player who looked solid at the crease. He made a crucial contribution of 43 runs in 31 balls, however, the others batters failed to make an impact with the bat. The likes of Babar Azam (23 off 29), Joe Clarke (26 off 24), and Nabi (10 of 17) couldn’t get going.
Imran Tahir starred with the ball for Multan Sultans. The South African veteran spinner picked the wickets of Sharjeel Khan, Nabi and Lammonby and gave only 16 runs in his four overs. S Dahani, on the other hand, picked the crucial wicket of Joe Clarke, while giving away only 14 runs in 3 overs.
Khushdil Shah also bowled well as he gave away only 8 runs in his two overs.
Multan Sultans made a decent start with the bat, in pursuit of the score. Shan Masood and M Rizwan put together 38 runs in the first 5 overs before the former got out on the last ball of the fifth over. Masood scored 26 runs in 18 balls. M Rizwan, on the other hand, played a match-winning unbeaten 52-run knock in 47 balls. Sohaib Maqsood also made a valuable contribution of 30 runs in 31 balls.
For Karachi, none of the bowlers looked threatening. M Nabi created some pressure as he took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 3.2 overs. However, he found little support from the other end and the runs on the board weren’t too many either.
Imran Tahir was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant 3/16 figures at an economy of 4.00 in the match.
