Defending champions, Multan Sultans register their fourth consecutive win after beating Islamabad United by 20 runs on Tuesday at National Stadium in Karachi.

Multan Sultans batted first and managed to post a gigantic 218-run total. They didn’t start too well. Skipper M Rizwan (12) and S Maqsood (13) failed to convert the starts into big scores as they got out in unfortunate ways.
Opener, Masood played a vital 43-run knock off 31 balls before getting out in the 9th over. At 10.2 overs, Multan Sultans had only managed to score 78 runs. However, Tim David then joined Rilee Rossouw and showcased an exhibition of boundaries all around the park.
Rossouw scored 67 runs in just 35 deliveries, a knock which was laced with 4 fours and 6 sixes. However, it was Tim David who stole the show with some serious ball-striking. In just 29 deliveries, he managed to score 71 runs, a knock which was laced with 6 fours and as many sixes. Thanks to all those contributions, Multan Sultans managed to score 217 runs in the first innings.
Islamabad United, in pursuit of the score, scored at a great rate but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The likes of Paul Sterling, Alex Hales, Rahmanullah Gurbaz failed to convert the start into big scores. After 8 overs, Islamabad United had lost four wickets for 82 runs. However, what followed was a sensational knock from Shadab Khan.
He kept the team in the hunt with some sensational hitting. Shadab Khan hit 5 fours and 9 sixes en-route to a wonderful 91-run knock off 42 balls. Islamabad United had the hopes of winning the game till the time he was there at the crease. However, once he got out the match was all but over. Islamabad United, in the end, fell 20 runs short of the target.
