Earlier after being sent to bat first, Lahore Qalandars openers Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique laid the foundation for Qalandars mammoth total as they smash the Zalmi bowlers all around the stadium.

Fakhar Zaman scored his third successive half-century in the 10th over, however in the same over, Usman Qadir dismissed Shafique for 41 runs to break the blooming opening stand between Fakhar Zaman & Shafique.

Fakhar continued his onslaught with the bat even after Shafique’s dismissal to bring up his blistering successive half-century. However soon in the 13th over Hussain Talat removed Fakhar for 66 runs to put Qalandars under pressure. By the time Fakhar was dismissed the job was almost done for Qalandars. The skipper brought up 66(38) to take Qalandars scoreboard to 114 before getting dismissed off Talat’s delivery.

In the next few overs, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hafeez, and Rashid Khan’s cameo provided a finishing touch to Lahore Qalandars innings. They crashed 82 off the final seven overs, with Rashid hitting three sixes in an unbeaten eight-ball 22. Fakhar Zaman’s half-century accompanied by some quick cameos helped Qalandars to end their innings at 199-4.

Chasing a big total of 199, Peshawar Zalmi’s got off to a poor start as Shaheen Afridi struck & removed opener Hazratullah Zazai for zero in the third ball of the innings. The early loss of a wicket put Zalmi on the backfoot as Qalandars kept fetching wickets at regular intervals to take the game under their control.

Kamran Akmal and Haidar Ali made 41 and 49 runs while Rutherford also chipped in with a quick 21(11) run knock to keep their scoreboard ticking. However, except for these three batters, no other batsmen could make a valuable contribution to keeping Zalmi alive in the mammoth run-chase.

Further Zaman Khan scalped three wickets while Shaheen and David Weise took two wickets each to restrict Peshawar Zalmi from meeting the required run rate. As a result, Zalmi’s were restricted to 170-9 in their allotted 20 overs to help the Qalandars register a thrilling 29 runs win. For Peshawar, Salman Irshad returned with two wickets while Usman Qadir and Hussain Talat picked one wicket each.
