The Argentinean suffered a minor quadriceps injury, but this week returned to training, and the Uruguay international fully recovered from a long injury.
Messi and Suarez are enough to start the game against Mallorca
Barcelona on Saturday will face Real Mallorca, and Quique Setien made it clear that both Leo Messi and Luis Suarez are enough to start the game. The Argentinean suffered a minor quadriceps injury, but this week returned to training, and the Uruguay international fully recovered from a long injury. “Firmly, Suarez is ready to be in the starting lineup, but not for all 90 minutes,” Setien said. “The club will not take risks after five months. It will be great for Luis to play, and he needs the games to be as before. Messi is there to play, and he is perfectly fine. He trained well, no problem. Messi and many of these players can slow down when needed. For some players, the longer they stay on the field, the better.”
Setien will decide whether Semedo will play or not
Nelson Semedo has recently violated LaLiga’s guidelines by attending a meeting of more than 20 people. Still, Setien insisted that this would not affect his decision whether to start it on Saturday. “I haven’t decided whether Semedo will play or not, but my choice will not be based on the unfortunate or careless fact he has had,” Setien added. “It is a case that will not affect me to decide on terms of football. He’s exceptionally ready. He has apologized to everyone.
LaLiga returned three months later, and Setien believes the break helped Barcelona. “I think this break was good for us, especially in the minds of everyone,” he said. “It gave us time for reflection and analysis, which was very good for us. But other teams could do it. Real Mallorca was able to isolate and refresh yourself to offer a better image. There are hypotheses about what might happen. Let’s see if we are better or stay the same.”
