Indian Team Under Pressure After Losing Second T20i

The young Indian team hasn’t fired collectively yet in this series. And the inconsistency has been a talking point among cricket experts. Rahul Dravid is coaching a young side as the team moves ahead from a transitional phase.

India fell short 14 runs while chasing the formidable target of 207 runs. There were some positives but also some concerns espically with the bowling arsenal fo Indian team.

A record no balls, lack of experience in slog overs gave Sri Lanka a chance to intimidate the young Indian side and their captain Dasun Shanaka took the lead and guided the team to victory.

In midst of many questions and criticisms, Rahul Dravid has backed the young Indian team. While fans are asking Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for a return, Dravid is considering that we have to be patience with these young guys.

The Team Is Young, Says Rahul Dravid

In the post match conference when reporters bombarded Rahul Dravid with criticism, he replied generously: “I think we’re gonna need to be patient with with a lot of these young kids. You know I think if you look at this team there are a lot of youngsters playing in this team. Especially our bowling attack. So they are young kids, you know they will have games like this at times like this.”

“I think we all need to be patient with them and and we need to be understanding that games like this can happen. Of course they are improving and you know we keep working hard and we keep trying to help them support them technically.”

“You know with whatever we can in terms of support and also just creating the right environment for them to to be able to get the best out of their skills. Very skillful but but you know I think as they are learning it’s a tough ride. It’s not easy learning in international cricket and you have to learn on the job.”

“So yeah so I think you’re going to have to have a little bit of patience with these guys.”

The Main Focus Is Preparing Team For WTC & ODI World Cup

The team is mostly focused on finding the best eleven for World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. So, this series is all about giving chances to young players and having their performance recorded.

“I think a lot of the focus is going to be obviously on the 50 over World Cup and the world Test Championship. At least with the 20 games that we have, it’s probably gives us an opportunity to try out a lot of the younger guys and hopefully give them opportunities and just back and support them,” Rahul Dravid said.

“They have tough games like this which they will you know honestly I haven’t thought about the 3rd match right now. Once we go there will have a look at the wicket. But I don’t expect there to be too much of experimenting.”

“The boys already who are playing are very young. I mean its the opening pair is Ishan and Shubman has just played 2 matches. So we are not going to be chopping and changing people too much. Unless of course there are some injuries like like today but otherwise not really.”
