Opener Shubman Gill played an fabulous innings of 96 runs. However, it was Rahul Tewatia who played only three balls and did something phenomenal.

He won the match by hitting 2 sixes in the last two balls. He led Gujarat Titans to a thrilling 6-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.

Gujarat needed 19 runs in the last over. Hardik Pandya (27 runs off 18 balls) was run out and the team needed 12 runs from the last two balls. Tewatia (13 not out from three balls) hit Odean Smith for sixes off deep midwicket and long on as Gujarat registered their third successive win at 190 for four.

In IPL 2020, Rahul Tewatia overturned the match against Punjab at Sharjah ground in IPL 2020 by hitting 5 sixes in Sheldon Cottrell’s over. At that time he was playing for Rajasthan Royals. Now, it Odean Smith, Sheldon Cottrell’s teammate who has come under Tewatia’ s radar.

Gujarat Titans started the chasesensibly. Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade opened the batting. While batting aggressively, Subhuman Gill continued to score 10 runs in an over throughout the powerplay.  However, Kagiso Rabada gave Punjab their first breakthrough in the form of Matthew Wade in his very first over. Rabada caught behind Matthew Wade at the hands of Bairstow on the score of six runs.

After the dismissal of Sudarshan, Hardik Pandya took up the batting front with Gill. In the 18th over, the team made 158 runs for the loss of two wickets. Gujarat Titans got the third blow in the fifth ball of the 19th over. Shubman Gill missed his maiden IPL century by four runs. He scored 96 runs in 59 balls with the help of one six and 11 fours. Unluckily, he was caught by Mayank Agarwal in Rabada’s over. After Hadik’s run out, Rahul Tewatia took the lead and took the match to the end with David Miller.

Earlier, due to the brilliant innings of Liam Livingstone (64) and Shikhar Dhawan (35), Punjab Kings (PBKS) set a target of 190 runs to Gujarat Titans (GT). Punjab scored 189 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Rashid Khan bagged three wickets for Gujarat Titans. Whereas, Darshan Nalkande took two wickets, while Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Lockie Ferguson took one wicket each.
