Pogba left to decide; Raiola exchange words with Solskjaer
Mino Raiola in a combative social media post said Pogba is not a “property” to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Raiola is indeed an agent to the world’s best players including Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. On Pogba’s case, the French International is linked with rumors of leaving United and joining Juventus once again.
Pogba has been sidelined with an ankle injury having played seven Premier League games this season. The midfielder’s absence has coincided with Manchester United’s struggles.
On Monday, Raiola hit out to Solskjaer after the Norweigian said in a pre-game news conference that “Paul is our player, not Mino’s.” The agent suggested that the Fench international could return to Juventus next season.
“Paul is not mine and for sure not Solskajer’s property. Paul is Paul Pogba’s property.” Raiola responded to the Solskajer.
“You cannot own a human being already for a long time in the UK or anywhere else. I hope Solskjaer does not want to suggest that Paul is his prisoner.”
“Before Solksjaer makes comments about things I say, he should inform himself better about the content of what has been said.”
“I am a free citizen who can think and express my thoughts. Until now I was maybe nice to him. Solskajer should just remember things that he said in the summer to Paul.”
“I think Solskajer may be frustrated for different reasons and is now mixing up some issues. I think he has other things to worry about. At least if I was him I would.”
Following United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea, Solskjaer was asked of Raiola’s comment which came courtesy of goals from Martial and Maguire.
He responded, “I don’t have to comment through the media on Mino. I can probably speak to him myself.”
“it’s not my area. Paul and Mino have their conversations and that is fine.”
Asked if he would speak to the agent, Solskjaer added, “probably not.”
Chris Sutton’s opinion
In particular, Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton says it is up tp Pogba to “straighten the whole matter out on where he stands.”
“Why should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have to come out and answer questions because of what an agent has said.” Asked Sutton.
“Paul Pogba is a Manchester United player. He has had opportunities this season to say ‘i am committed to Manchester United.'”
“He posts other stuff on Instagram. Thus, he should come out and tell us he is committed to the club and he doesn’t want his agent talking on his behalf. This because that’s how most people would see this situation-Mino Raiola is talking and representing Paul Pogba.”
