Manchester United has come forward to issue Marcus Rashford’s injury update. The Red Devils boss says the striker will be out “for a little while.”

United was beaten 2-0 at the London Stadium on the weekend. Goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Creswell sealed a damning defeat for Solskjaer’s side.

United was in the match without Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba through who were nursing injuries. The young striker, Mason Greenwood missed the match as well through tonsillitis.

This means United went into the match with Rashford as the only recognized senior striker in the squad with the England international tasked with leading the line against West Ham.

Rashford was unable to make a true impact on the match and was forced off through injury an hour into the match when he went down with a muscle injury.

The English forward was replaced by Jesse Lingard for the remainder of the match and speaking following the defeat Solskjaer gave an update on the extent of his injury.

“We have got to scan him,” Solskjaer said after the match.

“He felt his groin. So, he will probably be out for a little while. I can update you later when I know a little more.”

Rashford’s injury means that United could be without any recognized striker when they host Rochdale in the Carabao Cup. However, Solskjaer is hopeful both Greenwood and Martial will be back for the next Premier League fixture against Arsenal a week on Monday.

“It is just one of these moments, we have had historically loads of center backs the last few years struggling with injuries when we have come here. Carrick played center back, Darren Fletcher played, at the moment it is strikers.”

“Hopefully Mason and Anthony back for definitely Arsenal and hopefully one for Rochdale.”
