Raul is happy with his side reaching the final

Raul Gonzalez was left quite pleased with his side reaching the UEFA Youth League final. Real Madrid beat RB Salzburg to reach the final in what will be their first appearance on a Youth League game show in its seventh season. “I’m happy, but it’s real happiness,” Raul said after Saturday’s game. “At Real Madrid, you are only happy when you win.” Looking into the final, Raul only worried about the physical condition of his players. “We need to get the boys back as soon as possible,” he added. “It will be our fourth game, and there is a lot of wear and tear from the games. Hopefully, with everyone here, from doctors, physiologists, and drive of Real Madrid, we can compete on Tuesday in the best possible way and fight till the end.”

On Saturday’s game, the manager accepted that things weren’t going well for his side, despite periods of dominance. “There were two very contrasting halves,” Raul said. “We were higher in the first half and started very well. In the second, we had to defend, because they played a straightforward game. The boys suffered, but the titles are not won without suffering.”
