Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s love for football is not hidden from anyone. He has been seen many times playing football before a cricket match. Dhoni has also played charity football matches with many Indian cricketers.
Meanwhile, former head coach of the Indian team Ravi Shastri has revealed an incident when he got very angry over Dhoni’s love for football.
Shastri recalled the final match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan, where Dhoni was playing football under the dew on the ground a few minutes before the toss.
The former coach said that he was afraid that important players might get hurt, so he had to shout at Dhoni.
When Ravi Shastri got angry with Dhoni playing football
During a conversation on Star Sports, Ravi Shastri said, “He (Dhoni) loves football. He takes it very seriously.
Looking from the outside, you only hope that no one gets hurt. I remember before the Asia Cup final, there was a lot of dew on the ground. He was playing football five minutes before the toss.
Shastri further said, “I have never shouted like this in my life, I said stop playing! Just like that, you don’t want to lose your main player in the match against Pakistan because there was a toss after five minutes.
Talking about Dhoni at present, he is playing as a regular with his franchise Chennai Super Kings as he stepped down from the captaincy role before the start of the season.
While Ravindra Jadeja is the new captain, CSK are going through a bad phase so far in the 15th season of the IPL. CSK have played in total four matches so far this season and in all they have had to face defeat.
