Despite being the No. 1 bowler in test cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin was dropped from the playing XI squad for the World Test Championship final one week ago. His exclusion from a crucial match has been a huge blow, and in such difficult times, people often seek support from family and friends of the same profession or team. When Ashwin was asked about the same, he revealed the sad reality of Indian cricket.

Indian skipper was criticized for his decision

Ashwin was overlooked over Umesh Yadav for the final against Australia at The Oval Stadium, and skipper Rohit Sharma gave “overcast conditions” as the reason for not selecting Ashwin in the squad. This strategy was severely criticized by former cricketers who bashed Rohit Sharma and Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid after the team lost their second consecutive WTC final by 209 runs. This became a hot topic on social media as well, and everyone started criticizing Rohit Sharma for his captaincy.

Recently, during an interview, when Ashwin was asked if he was looking for help or had a simple-hearted conversation with any of his teammates, he responded, “It is a deep subject,” and explained that With huge competition in the team, the word friendship has disappeared in the Indian dressing room. In this era, everyone is just a colleague. Once upon a time, all teammates were friends, but now there is a big difference because people are here to push themselves and get ahead of anyone sitting on their left or right.

Ashwin also said that “it is better for the team when players share their technique with each other, but this doesn’t happen in the Indian team. Your game gets better when you share it with your team and understand others’ techniques and journeys, but it doesn’t happen now because no one comes for your aid , it is an isolated journey. you can reach out to any professional, like a coach, but we forget that cricket is a self-taught game”.
Currently, Ashwin is playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, where he is leading the Dindigul Dragons. Team India will be touring the West Indies in July, and the team will have two test series, three ODIs, and five T20s. We can see Ashwin in action again for the international test on this tour.
