Ravindra Jadeja Resigns From Captaincy, MS Dhoni To Takeover
After continuous defeats in IPL, CSK Ravindra Jadeja has announced to step down from the captaincy. Now once again this responsibility has come on the shoulders of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings have played 8 matches so far in this season and have won only 2 of them. The team is also struggling to make it to the playoffs and is almost out of the tournament.
The news of Ravindra Jadeja leaving the captaincy has been given by Chennai Super Kings themselves through a press release. The team said in its statement, “Ravindra Jadeda has appealed to MS Dhoni to take over the command of Chennai Super Kings to focus on his game. MS Dhoni accepted this appeal to the team and asked to take over the captaincy of the team.
Ravindra Jadeja took over the captaincy of the team for the first time this year after MS shocked everyone by leaving the captaincy. Reasons of his stepping down from captaincy remain unclear to this day.
Ravindra Jadeja could not maintain the CSK’s dominant image as we have seen in the previous seasons. His captaincy and game was questioned by many experts on cricket. Neither he was able to lead the team nor he performed to his standards. Under this pressure, he has announced to leave the captaincy.
According to CSK’s press release, Ravindra Jadeja wants to focus on his game, so he has decided to step down from the captaincy. And requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has admitted to leading CSK in the larger interest and allowing Jadeja to focus on his game.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni had announced to step down as captain a few days before the start of season 15. The performance of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 has been very disappointing. The team has played 8 matches so far in this season. During this, the team has got success in only two matches and rest of the matches have been no less than a struggle for the team. Chennai Super Kings is currently ranked 9th in the points table and there is little chance of it reaching the playoffs.
