While the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona has often led fans, in particular, to compare the developments at the two clubs, Real Madrid remain focused on picking up from where they left off after Carlo Ancelotti’s triumphant return to the club.

There have been rumours that the club are in the market for a number nine

Despite Barcelona’s recent splurge in the transfer market, which was capped off by the signing of Robert Lewandowski, nothing has changed at Real Madrid, with the club still focused on departures rather than making signings. While the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona has often led fans, in particular, to compare the developments at the two clubs, Real Madrid remain focused on picking up from where they left off after Carlo Ancelotti’s triumphant return to the club. After winning both LaLiga and the Champions League, Real Madrid have added Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni to their ranks, with the club looking to bolster their squad given Casimiro’s age and Ancelotti’s desire for a fourth starting centre-back. While there have been rumours that the club are in the market for a number nine, the rumours seem to be fanned more by the press than by the sporting management or the presidency.

The club would rather wait for the winter market

Real Madrid remain confident in their strategy of waiting for value rather than rushing to make a statement signing. While the club have held discussions about Barcelona’s recent transfer activity, the predominant mood at the club remains one of tranquillity. The recent acquisitions of Rudiger and David Alaba from the previous summer indicate that Madrid have a long-term strategy in mind. The club’s current ethos is not to sign players whom they may have doubts about and ones who may not end up fitting into the system of the coach. Of course, the position of striker remains a concern for the club, by with the likes of Vinicius and Rodrygo offering an attacking threat along with Karim Benzema, the club would rather wait for the winter market, where the 2022 World Cup would act as a showcase for a worthy option.

Other young forwards have been scouted by the club, but none of those options caught the imagination of the current Champions League holders. As things stand, the club feels it would be better to wait for the right player to become available with the club’s strategy so far, seeing them win LaLiga and Champions League.
