None of the giant Spanish team could win during the weekend. Atletico got a tie in Sevilla, Barcelona lost the match against Levante, and Real Madrid played a goalless draw against Real Betis.
Sevilla 1-1 Atlético Madrid
The match was exciting. Before the game, both teams have 20 points and were with the same influence in La Liga. Sevilla started the game with sharp attacks, and Lopotegue’s boys could win the first half. Vazquez could score a goal on 34th minute, and Sevilla won the first 45 minutes.
As it seems, Diego Simeone motivated his players in the dressing room. We saw different Atletico Madrid in the second half. Madrid club was dominating the whole stadium for the last 45 minutes but could not win. Atletico had a chance to win the match but could not convert a penalty. Before penalty kick, Alvaro Morata could score a match-tying goal in the 60th minute. On 72nd minute, Diego Costa had a chance to score a penalty but failed. Spanish forward have not failed from the penalty spot for the last three years, but on Saturday was not his day.
Levante 3-1 Barcelona
Blaugrana started the game at a slow pace, and we saw that Messi was the main man in the first half. Argentinian player could do everything – dribble, shoot, pass, and cross. Lionel Messi was everywhere in the first half, and Barcelona secured a comfortable win in 45 minutes. On 38th minute, Unlike Diego Costa, Lionel Messi could score from the penalty spot.
Levante changed the mentality in the second half. In just 10 minutes period, Levante players could score three goals without conceding more from Barcelona. Blaugrana could not score more goals or change the results, so Levante won a crucial match at the home stadium.
Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis
It was the most boring game we saw from Real Madrid this season. Both teams could not show potential, and we saw very few moments. Zidane was not happy after the match as Real Madrid lost the chance to top the La Liga.
As of now, Barcelona and Real Madrid have the same amount of points. Barcelona has better goals ratio, so Blaugrana is in the first position. The French coach was very disappointed after the match and talked about the mentality and motivation of players.
Zidane said that he would work hard to change the motivation of players. Frenchman mentioned that players need to prepare for regular matches mentally.
