Dani Ceballos is ready to take the next step in his career.
Arsenal had a strong start in the 2020/21 season in the Premier League, with Mikel Arteta’s plans working well, but one of the underrated stars is Dani Ceballos. After a near-ending loan to North London, the former Real Madrid midfielder is now considered a key player by Arteta. Even earning an international recall from Luis Enrique against Portugal. At 24, he is ready to take the next step in his career and realize the potential he showed during his formative years. Especially after his time with Los Blancos did him few favors. Arsenal’s return initially seemed like a concrete decision. But when he faced Zinedine Zidane again, he realized that there would be no room for him at Valdebebas. Ceballos trained with Los Merengues for just three days before Arsenal returned him back to the Emirates Stadium on loan.
Real Madrid didn’t want to lose control over the Ceballos future.
However, the deal was problematic, as Real Madrid behind the scenes has far more faith in Ceballos than Zidane. They did not want to lose control over the future of the Spaniard and demanded that Arsenal could not have a loan with a purchase option embedded with it. Arsenal weren’t keen, but Arteta stepped in at the last moment and convinced those above him in North London to agree to a deal without picking a second season in a row. Luis Enrique was quick to praise the player’s development, giving him a chance internationally. The coach suggested that he brings something unique to the group. “He is one of the players we have invested in since we took control. He is a different type of player who can pass the ball, find space and give a lot in attack,” explained Luis Enrique.
“Right now at Arsenal, he shows us that he has improved a lot from a defensive point of view. Which is very positive for his future as a player. I am glad he is back, and I hope he will continue to improve.”
