Real Madrid is close to clear injury list
Carlo Ancelotti is waiting for the players to get fit. International duties were on time for Los Merengues.
International break was a big saver!
With a hectic run of games coming up after the international break, ‘Operation empty the treatment room’ is underway at Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti hopes to have a number of players available again to help the team through the busy spell.
The Italian boss is currently waiting on a total of 12 players to fully return from various injury problems. Of the eight that were missing against Espanyol – Ferland Mendy, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal, Mariano Diaz, Marco Asensio and Isco – a decent portion of them could be back in the coming days. Marcelo and Mendy are back in training and making progress, so is Isco, while Carvajal, Asensio and Mariano have been doing work on the pitches as they near a return to full training.
Eden & Camavinga on point
The international break has given some players extra time to recover, but it has also caused Ancelotti a headache or two, as is the case with Eduardo Camavinga and Eden Hazard. The teenage midfielder picked up a knock in training which forced him to withdraw from the France Under-21 squad and return to Madrid, while Hazard suffered some muscular problems while playing for Belgium.
Eder Militao is also being looked at after hurting his back in Brazil’s last game, while Casemiro didn’t make it to the Brazil camp after picking up a dental infection. He has begun to do some solo work at Valdebebas before he is ready to train with his teammates. All in all, it’s been a stressful break for Ancelotti and he is still waiting for some of his players to complete their international duties. With less than a week until Athletic Club visit the Bernabeu, the head coach has a worryingly short list of players who he can be sure are fit and in perfect condition.
