Bale must do something to reopen his spark

Real Madrid could be open to sending Gareth Bale on loan, says former Blancos president Ramon Calderon, with the Welshman “wasting his time” at Santiago Bernabeu. Departure from the Spanish capital has been discussed for some time. Speculation reignited in the current transfer window when Bale firmly froze Real Madrid’s plans under Zinedine Zidane. Various landing points have been proposed, from China to America, through a return to the Premier League, and Calderon believes the move will be made this summer. He thinks the short-term deal could be negotiated somewhere, telling reporters: “We’ve done this before. I wouldn’t be surprised if they let him out and paid part of his salary. Bale needs to do something to reopen his spark, with a positive start to his time in Madrid, making his way to a painful present.

Gareth still could play at a high level in any team

“It’s unfortunate. It’s a shame to see a player like him in the stands,” Calderón added. “I think his skill and talent have not gone away. He is still a good player who could play at a high level in any team. I think they will have to find a solution to end this agony for both sides. If he does not want to cut wages, which would be understandable, they will have to find another way to end this situation.” Calderon believes that Zidane’s presence will eventually push Bale out of Madrid, with there little point in the age of 31-year-old sticking around, despite statements from his agent that the contract from 2022 will be honored. “The coach does not rely on him,” said Calderon, who snapped up Cristiano Ronaldo during his stay as president of Real Madrid.

“If Zidane stays with Real, which I think is undeniable, Bale will have to find a new path. Zidane got what he wanted at the end of the season. Zizou said that LaLiga is the main target. I’m sure he will continue, so there is no room, unfortunately, for Gareth Bale. The problem is that he has two more years on the contract. It’s sad to see how he is wasting his time because he is still in good shape.”
