Marcelo, a Real Madrid great, will be given a special send-off when he departs the club at the end of the month.
The 34-year-old Brazilian has spent 16 seasons with Real Madrid since joining in January 2007. He is the club’s most decorated player. To his name, he has 25 major medals including five Champions Leagues and six La Liga crowns.
Marcelo’s has been connected with a number of European teams, notably Fenerbahce and Marseille.
Unlike Marcelo, Real Madrid delivered a poignant letter this week thanking Gareth Bale for his contributions, confirming his departure from the Bernabeu at the end of the month.
Reports claim Marcelo will be treated in the same way as Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos when they left the Bernabeu, with all of the trophies he has won over the last 16 seasons being honored.
He’ll be accompanied by current and past Real Madrid teammates, as well as family and friends.
