Gareth Bale wants to show his quality at Madrid

Real Madrid will turn their focus back to domestic matters following on from an excellent 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday, and Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that it would be a fair outcome if Gareth Bale was given a chance to say goodbye to the club in a good way. Bale has stoked the ire of Los Blancos supporters in recent times for his attitude and perceived lack of commitment to the club’s cause, even though he was a fundamental part of the team which won four Champions League trophies in five seasons between 2014 and 2018. “Gareth has entered the history of this club with his goals, his performances and the titles,” Ancelotti detailed at his pre-match press conference. “Gareth is fine, as we saw with Wales, and he wants to show it here, with his team.”

According to Ancelotti, Karim’s career is very long and he continues to improve

“He wants to go out positively; it would be fair for him to say goodbye to the Bernabeu in a good way.” Whilst there hasn’t necessarily been a raft of speculation surrounding a possible coaching change at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Ancelotti was asked about his continuity at Real Madrid on Friday. “At the end of the season, the club will evaluate the work we do and decide,” he continued. “I enjoy every day.” Karim Benzema was in fine form against Chelsea, scoring a superb hat-trick. However, the Italian coach isn’t at all surprised at the upturn in production from the former Lyon forward over the past three seasons. “His career is very long; he continues to improve,” Ancelotti added.

“He has improved on and off the pitch in his leadership. Karim’s age makes no difference to the partner he has; in the future, he will still be one of the most important players on this team. He has more personality, is more of a leader, but the good player has always been there.”
