Record Alert: KL Rahul becomes fastest Indian batter to score 6,000 T20 runs

Indian top order batsman KL Rahul completed his 6000 runs in T20 cricket by scoring 30 runs in an IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Even though Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during 31 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), LSG captain KL Rahul defeated Virat Kohli. Has achieved a big record in T20 cricket.

Chasing the target of 182 runs given by RCB in the match played at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, KL Rahul completed his 6,000 runs in T20 cricket by playing 30 runs in 24 balls.

With this, Rahul has become the fastest batsman to score 6000 runs in T20 cricket. Rahul has done this feat in 166 innings. Earlier this record was in the name of Kohli, who completed 6000 T20 runs in 184 innings.

However, this innings of Rahul also failed to get Lucknow to victory against Bangalore. Chasing an easy target of 182 runs, the batting order of the Lucknow team was completely shattered and the team could score only 163 runs in 20 overs at the loss of 8 wickets. And Bangalore won this match by 18 runs.

After the match, Rahul said

“I think we started very well with two wickets in the first wicket, giving 50 runs in the powerplay was not good, should have done better.

180 runs that too 15 on this pitch That was 20 runs more than what we gave. The pitch was a bit slow, we got the initial breakthrough we were looking for but couldn’t stop him from scoring runs in the middle overs.”

“We needed a big partnership, we saw what Faf did for RCB. I think one of the top three or four batsmen needed to play a long innings and the other batsman had to stick with him but We couldn’t do that. We didn’t get partnerships and we couldn’t even stop runs in the bowling.”

“We have a really good team. Very happy with what we have done so far. Yes, a couple of matches could have been better like against Rajasthan or what was today in which we put them under pressure but then it took longer Couldn’t keep up.

Once we were up, we just had to keep the opposition under pressure and stop them for the least possible score. That would have made batting easier.”
