Renato Sanches was the fifth new arrival at the Parc des Princes of the summer transfer window.
Contract Details
The Portuguese footballer has completed a permanent transfer to PSG. Renato Sanches moves to Parc des Princes after three impressive years at Stade Pierre Mauroy, where the midfielder received a Ligue 1 winners’ medal in 2020-21. The Portuguese appears poised to replace Georginio Wijnaldum in the Paris Saint-Germain ranks, with the Dutch player reportedly on the verge of sealing a loan move to Roma.
Paris Saint-Germain acquired the Portuguese for €15m, €10m more than Lille originally paid to sign him from Bayern Munich in 2019.
Renato Sanches has signed a five-year deal at Paris Saint-Germain that will keep the player at the Parc des Princes until 2027. The Ligue 1 champions also have the option to extend this agreement for an additional year.
What did Sanches say?
Renato Sanches told the official website of Paris Saint-Germain that he was really happy to be in Paris. According to the Portuguese, I am sure that I made the right choice by signing for the club. Renato chose PSG because he thinks it’s the best project for him. Staying in France was important to him, as Renato already knows this league.
Sanches says that apparently he is happy to join some of his Portuguese compatriots. It can also make it easier for him to integrate. Sanches already knows Danilo Pereira and Nuno Mendes, but not yet Vitinha. According to Renato Sanches, he spoke with Mendes before signing and had a good thing to say about PSG.
Why did the Portuguese sign Paris Saint-Germain?
The Portuguese player is the fifth signing of the summer for Paris Saint-Germain after Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Nordi Mukiele, with Hugo Ekitike also brought in from Reims on loan. The French champions have long had their eye on Renato, who chose to join Galtier’s ranks rather than explore a move to Milan in Serie A. Renato Sanches’ arrival will help ensure Paris Saint-Germain remains well stocked in the middle of the park amid reports that Idrissa Gueye will follow Georginio Wijnaldum from the club and return to Everton.
