Zidane was close to becoming the coach of Juventus in 2018

Zinedine Zidane, the former coach of Real Madrid, has been out of football management for nearly two years. However, reports suggest that he may be returning to coaching with Juventus. French media outlet RMC Sports has reported that Zidane is considering a move to the club where he played from 1996 to 2001. In fact, Zidane was close to becoming the coach of Juventus in 2018 after he left Real Madrid for the first time. However, he ended up returning to Real Madrid less than a year later.

According to the report, Zidane is not overly concerned with Juventus’ current Champions League standing and is instead more interested in a long-term project that focuses on domestic competition. However, the main obstacle to Zidane’s possible move to Juventus is the current coach, Max Allegri. Allegri’s contract with the club runs until 2025, and he is paid 7 million euros net per year. Replacing him would require a payment of 20 million euros, which would be difficult for Juventus to manage, given their financial situation.

RMC reports that Zinedine is not interested in working with PSG

Moreover, Juventus management has shown no interest in sacking Allegri even when the team was struggling and was in ninth place. Juventus has since rebounded and made it to the Europa League semi-finals, making the thought of replacing Allegri almost unthinkable. Other clubs, such as PSG, may also be interested in hiring Zidane. However, RMC reports that Zidane is not interested in working with PSG due to disagreements with the club’s management style.

In summary, while Zidane may be interested in coaching Juventus, the current situation with Allegri and the financial constraints of the club make it a difficult move to make. Additionally, other interested clubs may not be a good fit for Zidane due to disagreements with management. Ultimately, Zidane will have to carefully consider his options before making a decision on his next coaching job.
