Tim Seifert of Delhi Capitals (DC) came Covid-19 positive after taking a test in the morning, due to which doubts were raised about the conduct of the match. Pant said after the match, ‘There was a lot of doubt about Covid. The players were also in doubt. We were also a little nervous as there was talk that it might be cancelled. But we talked as a team and focused our attention on the match.
Delhi Capitals chased down the target with 57 balls left in the game. Certainly, Warner’s 50 and and his partnership of 83 for the first wicket with Shaw (41) ensured a crushing victory for DC.
Rishabh Pant said about Warner and Shaw, ‘Mostly I let them play freely because they know their roles.’ Pant said about the bowlers, ‘The pitch was helping the spinners and all three of our spinners bowled brilliantly.’
Man of the match was Kuldeep Yadav who took two wickets for 24 runs. He said, ‘I think the ‘Player of the Match’ award should be shared with Axar Patel (2 for 10), who took important wickets in the middle overs. Let us inform that Punjab was given a good start by Shikhar Dhawan and captain Mayank Agarwal, but the spinners of Delhi sent Punjab’s batsmen back to the pavilion one after the other.
Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal blamed the defeat on his poor batting and poor bowling. He said, ‘We neither bowled well nor batted well. We have to forget this performance. We lost a lot of wickets in the beginning but I would not like to talk much about it. A score of 180 would have been fine but we could not reach there.”
