The United Kingdom’s PM Rishi Sunak and the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently clashed in a low-key meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Lithuania. This happened after Albanese presented Sunak with a piece of paper with the current Ashes series scoreline of 2-1 written on it. Both of them posed for the photos, but Sunak also brought a picture of English batsmen Mark Wood and Chris Woakes celebrating the third test win in Leeds.
Sunak tweeted after the meetup

I promised @AlboMP I’d give him one of our ministerial folders.
Naturally it came with a little reminder of last weekend… two more to go. pic.twitter.com/AizRwePOXe

Trying not to give up, Albanese drew another picture of Bairstow’s dismissal by running out in the second test and said “I was going to be really provocative”. Then Sunak quickly replied, “Sorry, I didn’t bring my sandpaper with me”, referring to the ball tampering scandal in 2018. After this meetup, Sunak took to Twitter and wrote “I promised Anthony Albanese that I would give him one or more ministerial folders”. Naturally, it comes with a little reminder of last weekend—two more to go.
The Australian PM defended his country
Earlier on Tuesday, the Australian Prime Minister defended his country’s Ashes cricket team after Sunak said that Bairstow’s dismissal in the second test was against the spirit of the game. Albanses wrote on Twitter, “Same old Aussies, always winnings, alluding to the slogan chanted by English fans, “Same old Aussies, always cheating,” after the decision. When England was at 193/5 and chasing a gigantic target of 371 runs, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey hit the stumps after English batsman Jonny Bairstow left his crease at the end of an over during the match.
