After an 11-year dry spell, the senior men’s cricket team made history by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, breaking their drought of ICC titles. The victorious Indian team faced a challenging journey back home after being stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, but they have now returned to a hero’s welcome.

Upon their arrival in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organized a series of celebratory events for the team led by captain Rohit Sharma. This schedule includes a special meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, followed by a roadshow in Mumbai. The team’s day will be packed with activities, starting with a stay at the ITC Maurya Hotel in Central Delhi and then heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for a meeting in two separate sessions with players and support staff.

Following their meeting with the Prime Minister, the team will fly to Mumbai for a victory march through the streets of South Bombay. The roadshow is set to start at the Air India Building at Nariman Point and conclude with a felicitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium by the BCCI.

The team’s return to India was delayed due to the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, which brought life on the island to a halt for nearly two days. The Indian contingent, comprising around 100 members including players, families, support staff, officials, and media personnel, finally made their way back home after a 16-hour non-stop flight.

This victory marks the end of a long wait for the Indian team, who had come close to clinching ICC titles on several occasions in the past. With their triumphant return, the team has now etched their names in cricketing history with their impressive win in the T20 World Cup.
