Earlier this record was in the name of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli of Bangalore. Both of them had a partnership of 118 runs against Punjab. At the same time, for Chennai, this is the second highest partnership for any wicket. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis hold the record for the biggest partnership. Both of them had a partnership of 181 not out against Punjab in the 2020 IPL.
88 runs is Uthappa’s best score in IPL. Prior to this his best score was 87, which he scored in 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiants while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.
