Rodgers cautions his players on the last EPL top-four drama
Brendan Rodgers urges his players to be careful as they may overcomplicate things when Leicester welcomes Tottenham Hotspurs.
Rodgers sits fifth with 66 points same as Liverpool, 4th needs a win hoping that Liverpool will slip off. However, should the Foxes manages five-plus goals to overcome a 4-goals deficit the Reds holds against them.
Speaking ahead of the EPL final day, Rodgers amylases what might go wrong and turn against them. He knows they can’t afford to make any mistakes.
“We’ll talk about the different situations that may arise in the game,” Rodgers said.
“I think ultimately we set out to win the game. What’s important is that you can’t overcomplicate it,” he added.
“For us, if there is a point where we do need a goal, we would want to have something in place for that.
“However, it’s something where I’ve had an experience before, as you well know. Where if you get too emotional and you think you can chase goals, it can go against you,” he continued.
Rodgers admits it is hard to soccer 5 or 6 goals in the English Premier League. But he claims they can win and hope for something good.
“The key is to win the game and get three points. There are very few games where you are going to get five or six goals in the Premier League. So win the game,” Rodgers claimed.
“This isn’t a team you can take a massive risk with, just by opening up your whole team. They’ve got players like Harry Kane, Son, they’re fast, they’re dynamic. Moura, Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, they’re talented players. So you can’t just open your team up and think you’ll get away with it,” he explained.
“Just win the game, be professional, stay focused,” Rodgers cautioned his players.
