Rodrygo wants to do more at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Goes made the move to Real Madrid last summer and made an impression in his debut season at the club, but the 19-year-old is determined to go to the next level in the 2020/21 campaign. The winger made his Brazilian national team debut last November, playing 31 minutes in two friendlies against Argentina and South Korea. He aims to be once again involved with the Selecao. “It was a perfect first season at Real Madrid. But I want to do more,” Rodrygo said: “I want to fight for trophies again, have more goals, more assists, and have more opportunities in the Brazilian national team, which is one of the goals that I have set for myself for 2021.”

Rodrygo continues to work on his game with his trainer Marcel Duarte. As he hopes to improve on the seven goals and three assists he had in 26 games for Real Madrid last season. “We knew he would have that period of maturation and evolution in physical, technical, and mental parts,” Rodrygo explained. “I try to develop every day. Strength is essential, but balance is needed. I try to progress my heading, shooting with both feet, dribbling, reading the game, tactical part, and marking”. Football changes all the time, and we need to be tied up”. Duarte himself does not want to change Rodrygo into a more muscular player, but instead a more threatening player. “Our approach is completely focused on the quality of his movements, skills, and characteristics,” said Duarte.

“We do not intend to make him muscular, but with more powerful and explosive movements.”
