Rohit Sharma Leads India To Fourth BGT Victory

India is yet again the winner of Border-Gavasker Trophy, they have done it for four times in a row which is a history in itself but this trophy goes beyond victory and losses. There is a lot to learn, play competitive cricket, enlarge your cricketing knowledge and just purely enjoying the beautiful game.

Both captains lead their team to the best they could have lead, Australia in fact had to go with Steve Smith after Pat Cummins couldn’t continue due to family reasons. It worked well for Australia, Cummins being an Aussie, could only captain his side from an Australian standpoint, which isn’t fruitful business in India. Smith for sure pulled things back, because he has done the job before in India.

Rohit Sharma was good with his job, India were short of runs in first three test matches but once opportunity came, they watched it through with a wonderful batting performance, Kohli went on to score his most awaited ton, and Shubman Gill, once again, proved why he’s the next superstar of Indian cricket.

The series was totally dominated by India in first two test matches, Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent century in Nagpur, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were excellent with the ball as usual. Some new guys slided in and they had must have had a decent learning curve.

While talking in post match talk, Rohit Sharma said, “It was fantastic. Right from the word ‘go’ we saw how exciting it was. There was something in it for everyone to watch. A lot of the players were playing (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) for the first time but we all understand the importance of it.”

“We stand here with a result we are quite happy with. A lot of hard work went into it. We knew we hard to start the series well, but the Delhi Test is one I’m really proud of. We were behind the game but showed a lot of character and fight to come back. It was good to see.”

“The guys took on the responsibility & dug the team out of some tough situations. That is what Test cricket is. I’m satisfied with my own performance. I could have done better but I keep personal milestones aside. Team results are what I focus on and we got what we wanted.”

Team result matters most for most of the captains, as long as team in winning, the combination seems perfect even though, in terms of contribution, the potential is not being used best.

Both teams now move to ODI series which starts from March 17. Unlike test series, Australia is really a threatening one day side. They had a quite satisfying last year in ODI format, cleaning up England with 3-0 in a three match ODI series.
