In IPL 2023, it can be seen that in interest of mangi workload, Rohit Sharma may abstain from playing all matches. Being captain of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma wants to stay focused on the Indian team.

Injures have always been big concern for Indian players, Jasprit Bumrah is a lot of important international cricket and his workload management has been a big point of talk.

In absence of Rohit Sharma, it is being speculated that Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team. The 50 overs World Cup will take place in November and before that India has busy schedule with key internal matches and tournaments.

In current time, there is no alternative of Sharma to lead the Indian side and considering the importance of that, the big decision of he not playing every match has been taken.

After the concussion of third ODI between India and Australia, Sharma gave a hint that franchise sides are as much as involved in players’ life as international cricket playing for national side.

“It’s all up to the franchises now. They own them now. We have given some indications to the teams, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the franchises. And more importantly, it’s up to the players. They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen” Rohit said after the third ODI.

Sharma will not entirely stay away from the Mumbai Indians, he will travel with the team, will be part of the dugout but it is unlikely that he will play all matches.

The 35 years old captain is set to lead India in World Test Championship final at the Oval in June 2023. From India’s perspective about test cricket, this is going to be a huge challenge and India will back themselves after the performance they have been giving in recent times.
