Roma Frustrated with Man United over Chris Smalling Deal
The Serie A side Roma are impatient with Man Utd. The club is in urgent need of a center-half as the deal for the on-loan Chris Smalling could be in the balance with Roma losing patience.
Smalling spent a successful loan spell in the Italian capital last season and Roma want to make the move permanent.
The Serie A Club is trying to close a deal with Manchester United over the on-loan Smalling who is determined to leave the Red Devils this summer. However, the Serie A club is losing patience as they are in urgent need of a striker before the Italian top-flight resumes.
Sources claim Roma are ready to consider alternative options. This could leave the deal for Smalling in the balance as United want in the region of £20m for the central defender. Moreover, the clubs have not agreed on a fee.
The failure to agree on a transfer fee has left the switch in the balance. The news surfaced after ‘Sportsmail’ revealed Smalling sat out United’s photoshoots for TV on Monday as he remains intent on leaving.
The 30-year-old has continued training away from the first-team squad after asking United to resolve his transfer to Roma.
Smalling was absent from training on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. As it’s said, he discussed his future with Manchester United. And with no assurances about his first-team place forthcoming from Solskjaer, he has made up his mind to leave the Old Trafford.
Solskjaer is in the market for a new center-back but that is likely to come next summer.
