Wilfried Zaha is out for the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and could be named as a Serie A substitute.

Why does Roma want Wilfried Zaha?

Head coach Roma knows PL as well as any modern manager, and so it should come as no surprise that he is once again casting his eye on England in his latest bid to improve the squad. The purpose of his affections? Ivory Coast player. Jose Mourinho instructed GM Giallorossi to look into signing Wilfried after the player was offered by Roma as potentially available to his agents. It is believed, however, that the Europa League winners will have to be sold before they can buy Wilfried.

After Mkhitaryan’s left for Inter on a free transfer, the Giallorossi was looking for a versatile striker who could play in many different positions behind the front lines. Wilfried Zaha fits that profile, having played both wings and centrally during a Palace career that has seen him amass over 150 combined goals and assists since his debut in 2010.

The former Red Devils player was previously valued by the Eagles at around €90m but would be available for a fraction of that price now, entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park. One major sticking point could be wage requirements as Serie A clubs struggle to keep up with the amounts paid by PL parties in recent years.

A little about the topic

The Giallorossi would need to be sold before they could even consider trying to get Wilfried away from Palace, but there are players they would be willing to see move on in the form of El Shaarawy and Perez. They, too, could be about to sell Zaniolo to the bianconeri if Juve gets their way, but Jose wants to bring Zaha to the Italian capital no matter how shackled Nicolo Zaniolo’s future is.
