Romelu Lukaku Continues his Hot Scoring Streak
Romelu Lukaku showcased brilliancy in the 2-0 win against the physically, determined and disciplined Genoa that held them up until the second half.
Roland Maran’s men, Genoa, turned up and kept Inter Milan quiet for the best part of the 60 minutes with their physicality, determination, and discipline to hang on to a 0-0 draw.
It took a moment of brilliance from Lukaku and Barella to open the scoring. Inter’s first shot on goal was in the 64th minute when the striker played a one-two with substitute Nicolo Barella before scoring the opener. From then the game turned to a walk in the park for the Nerazzurri.
Danilo D’Ambrosio headed in Andrea Ranocchia’s corner as Conte’s side picked up 10 points from five games this season.
Lukaku has now scored 15 goals in his last 13 games for Inter Milan and Belgium including ten in nine this season.
According to Conte, “we went onto the pitch to take the initiative as we have done in other games. Sometimes, you break through earlier, sometimes it takes longer. Today, our opponents didn’t have a shot on goal and we kept a clean sheet”.
Moreover, in a post-match television interview, Conte made his feelings known concerning Eriksen.
Antonio Conte Tired of Christian Eriksen
The Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte is tired of talking about his midfielder, Christian Eriksen. This he said on Saturday after the Dane gave another indifferent performance in the 2-0 win at Genoa.
Eriksen has failed to make the expected impact since his move from Tottenham Hotspur. As a result, Inter Milan noticeably improved after they replaced him with Nicolo Barella before the hour of Saturday’s match.
Conte said, “I’m sorry you’re getting stuck on Eriksen. You’ve been pointing out and asking me about Eriksen since last year. He’s a footballer who plays when he deserved to. And if he doesn’t deserve it, he doesn’t play”.
“We’ve seen his characteristics and we’re trying to put him in the best condition. Sometimes he is more successful, sometimes less so. He’s a positive lad. We’re trying to help him grow in terms of intensity and he’s putting a lot of effort into it”.
“It bothers me to talk keep talking about Eriksen. He’s not a problem for us. It’s not right for Inter for the player and for me to keep talking about him”.
