Barcelona have a desire to bring Eric Garcia from Manchester City

Ronald Koeman has spoken of his desire to bring center-back, Eric Garcia, from Manchester City this summer. The Dutchman would like to get another central defender ahead of what will be a demanding season for his side, and he is an admirer of the Spaniard. “The window is open until Monday, and we want to have this player because now we have three or four center backs and a little light in that position,” said the Barcelona coach. “I saw what Pep Guardiola has said at Manchester City, and hopefully we can bring him in. We know it’s a little difficult economically. We’re interested, but I don’t know if we can get him”. He also talked about the future of Ousmane Dembele, who was involved with leaving Camp Nou and did not play regularly.

Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla are strong and it will be a difficult match for Barca

“I can’t say anything more about Dembele,” he said. “I always try to get the best out of the team, and if there are changes, then it’s for a reason. If Pedri or Trincao have played, it’s because they deserved it. Dembele is a Barcelona player, and it will be down to him. I have not spoken to him about his future”. Koeman also looked forward to this Sunday clash with Sevilla at the Camp Nou and expects a tough test against Julen Lopetegui’s side. “We know Sevilla are a strong team and always strive to do well every season,” commented Koeman. “Their coach is excellent tactically, and it will be a tough match. But if we play well, as in our previous matches, we have a lot to our advantage. The match will be intense, but we are confident in ourselves.”

Koeman also commented about Philippe Coutinho, who is now back at the club after a loan spell last season at Bayern Munich. “Coutinho is an outstanding player and has learned a lot from his time in England and with Bayern Munich,” said the Dutchman. “My job as a coach is to get the best out of every player, and that starts with playing everyone in the right position. The coach can help, but it all starts with the quality of the player, and Coutinho is a great player.”
