Solskjaer is facing growing pressure at Man Utd and it has been claimed that Ronaldo ‘recommended’ Zinedine Zidane to club chiefs to replace him.

Man United head into their Champions League clash with Atalanta tonight (Wednesday) under serious pressure after a 4-2 defeat against Leicester during the weekend.

For the time being, it is believed Solskjaer’s job is safe with club bosses not considering making a managerial change.

However, reports suggest that Ronaldo has put forward Zinedine Zidane’s name to United bosses and ‘recommended’ him as a potential replacement with his previous comments about life under the Frenchman at the Bernabeu showing why he might feel he is the answer.

“Zidane can manage the squad intelligently,” he said.

“At Madrid every player wants to play every game so from a managerial position, it is not easy to delegate all these decisions and make the calls.”

“He knows how to handle this with a lot of thought. And he knows how to manage the squad.”

“The confidence that a player need doesn’t only come from himself but also from the players around him and the coach.” Ronaldo added.

“You need to feel like you are an important part of the group and Zidane made me feel special”.

“He helped me a lot. I already had a lot of respect for him but working with him made me admire him more. That’s because of what he’s like as a person, how he talks, how he led the team and how he treated me. .”

“I love working with Zidane. I love his personality and the way he manages us. I’m very happy.”

Whilst there is no indication Solskjaer will depart any time soon, Zidane is waiting in the wings and would certainly seem likely to be a popular appointment with Ronaldo.
