After a tough win in Serbia, Cristiano Ronaldo and team had an easy away match in Lithuania. It should have been comfortable from the start as the bookmakers gave very low odd for Portugal win, but the first half was not easy at all.

Second position for Portugal

After a big win in Serbia, Portugal’s chance for Euro 2020 increased. In august Portugal had only 2 points after two matches but in September, the team won both games and now the team has 8 points. Keep in mind that Ukraine is on top of Group B only playing goalless draw once.

Ronaldo’s historic record

As you may know, in Serbia Ronaldo scored only one goal. By that away goal, Cristiano netted 20 goals in European qualifiers. Robbie Keane (Ireland forward) was holding the record by that time scoring 23 goals in European qualifiers. After an away game in Serbia, Robbie Keane posted a picture with that stat and asked Ronaldo not to score any more goals.

Ronaldo was born for challenges, and in just two days, Portugal legend took the record from Robbie. Portugal forward scored four goals and got another historical record. People went crazy after Ronaldo’s poker (scoring four-goals) as they were not ready for this kind of challenge.

Lithuania 1-5 Portugal

First half was not an easy game for Portugal at all. Ronaldo scored first from the penalty spot, but Lithuania soon netted their first and teams could not do more in the first half. Ronaldo changed the style of game in the second half and was able to score three more goals. At the end of the match, William Carvalho scored one more, and Portugal took three points from Lithuania.

Cristiano Ronaldo was happy after the match

CR7 posted pictures on Instagram soon after the game. Cristiano mentioned the team’s role in a way win and thanked fans for continuous help.

What’s next in Group B?

Euro qualifiers should be over in 2019, so we will have four more rounds in October and November. Portugal has to play four matches, and most of them will be played in Lisbon. One of the toughest games for Cristiano’s team will be in Ukraine. Andrey Shevchenko’s team is leading Group B with 13 points and already topping Portugal.

Ukraine has 13 points in five matches, while Portugal has only 8 points in 4 games. Ukraine is playing differently under Shevchenko as Ukrainians scored 11 goals already, most in Group B.
