Roy Hodgson will retire when his contract with Watford expires at the end of the season.
What did Roy Hodgson say?
The English manager says he will leave the club at the end of the season and will likely retire from football. Hodgson, who was honored at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday when he received a CBE for services to football, took over at the PL’s helm in January. Roy Hodgson was expected to retire last summer when he left Crystal Palace, but he was tempted to return to action in January when he signed with the Hornets until the end of the campaign.
The former England manager confirmed that this would likely be his last job in the game, telling reporters that he enjoyed his time doing the job. This is a very demanding world. According to Roy Hodgson, this is obviously a short-term deal. Of course, Roy made it clear that this should be short-term until the end of the season. Hodgson took the job and retired to do this job.
Now this work, unfortunately, is over. The Englishman does not think he will put his name forward for further forays into the world of PL football. Roy Hodgson thinks he has earned the right to step back and enjoy some free time and spend some quality time with his wife and son.
Watford activities under Hodgson
The Hornets were the PL’s third baseman with just 14 points from 20 games when Roy took over from Ranieri in January. Under his leadership, the club won only two matches, having played two more and lost 10 in the English top flight. They are currently on a five-game losing streak and are sitting second in the table with four games to go. The Hornets will face former team Roy’s Crystal Palace on Saturday and will be eliminated if they fail to win the match.
