The Royal Club want to play at Di Stefano Stadium
Real Madrid have asked La Liga for the permission to hold the remaining matches at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium instead of Santiago Bernabeu if the season resumes.
As you may know, in case of renewal of the season, the competitions will be held in front of the empty stands. So, Real decided to hold the matches at Di Stefano.
The royal team wants to start the reconstruction of the Bernabeu Stadium on time. With this decision, the Bernabeu reconstruction project will be accelerated by 50%.
La Liga has already complied with this request. Now the team is waiting for UEFA’s consent.
Now it’s UEFA’s turn. If Zidane’s team goes beyond City in the Champions League, they will have to face each other in the 1/4 finals at home. That is why they need permission from UEFA.
Di Stefano meets all requirements.
At UEFA’s request, the clubs will have to play in the stadiums where the season begins. But due to some regulations caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, UEFA may make concessions and allow Real to play at Alfredo Di Stefano.
Di Stefano Stadium meets all the requirements in terms of infrastructure. So, “Blancos” are confident that they will receive the appropriate permission from “UEFA” to hold the match.
In the event of a La Liga renewal, the clubs will have to play without fans. That is why Real want to start the ‘Santiago Bernabeu’ update on time and hold the matches on the spare pitch.
Interestingly, in the history of football, Real have not played a home game at the Santiago Bernabeu twice. They ended both matches at the Neutral Stadium with a win. In 1987 Real defeated Porto at Mestalla and in 1994 – Rayo Vallecano at Vicente Calderon.
