RR beat CSK by 32 runs to claim the top spot

In the 37th IPL league match where Rajasthan and Chennai squared off each other and the Hosts RR defeated CSK comfortably by 32 runs in this match.

It was the second loss for the CSK against Rajasthan in the ongoing IPL season. Sanju Samson-led Pink Army now has reached the top of the table with 5 wins out of 8 matches. Following this defeat MS-Dhoni-led CSK now has slipped to the 2nd place in the points table.

Chasing the target of 203 runs for the win, CSK did not get a promising start from the openers. The left-handed Kiwi batter Devon Conway got out the score off 8, Conway who played the best innings in the last few matches, could not give a good start to whistle-podu this time, while the right-handed opener Rituraj Gaikwad (47) could not convert the excellent batting into big innings.

Rajasthan Beats Chennai by 32 runs

Apart from this, 4-time IPL winners did not get help from Ajinkya Rahane (15) who was in the sublime for the last few matches and the impact player Ambati Rayudu got out on the duck. At one end, Shivam Dube (52) played a fine inning, but as Dube kept falling behind at the ever-increasing average, Moeen Ali (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (23) struck too late.

Seeing this, it was surprising that when a veteran batter and best finisher in the league MS Dhoni was sitting in the dugout while others batted ahead of him, why did CSK take so long to attack? This defeat must hurt the yellow army after Dhoni did walk out for the bat and fans were waiting for him on the ground.

And the match went out of Chennai’s hands. CSK managed to score 170 runs after 20 overs. RR’s bowlers also bowled well and the spinner Adam Jampa grabbed 3 wickets, Ashwin 2 and Kuldip Yadav took 1 wicket.

In the first innings, Rajasthan Royals, batting with a bang, have set a target of 203 to win in front of Chennai. After electing to bat, Rajasthan openers Jaiswal (77) and Butler (27) got off to a flying start, adding 86 runs for the first wicket with clear intent.

RR reach on the top

The wickets of Samson (27) and Hetmyer (8) fell cheaply in the middle, but Dhruv Jurel (34) did what he has been doing, while Padikkal (27 not out) also supported him well. As a result, RR managed to cross the 200 mark and posted 202 on the board courtesy of Jaiswal. For CSK, Deshpande claimed two wickets, while Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.
