In the 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs on 18 April. In this match played at Brabourne Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl. Going to bat first, Rajasthan Royals scored 217 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Kolkata Knight Riders could only manage 210 runs for 10 wickets in 19.4 overs.
KKR were once in a strong position at 148 for two but lost their last 8 wickets for 62 runs. KKR needed 51 runs to win in the last 5 overs. Chahal changed the course of the match by taking the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer (06), Shreyer Iyer, Shivam Mavi (00) and Pat Cummins (00), including a hat-trick in the 17th over.
Jos Buttler scored the highest 103 runs for Rajasthan Royals. This was his second century this season. Apart from Butler, Devdutt Padikkal scored 24 runs in 18 balls, Sanju Samson scored 38 runs in 19 balls for Rajasthan. Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 26 off 13 balls. Sunil Narine took 2 wickets for 21 runs for KKR. Andre Russell took one wicket for 29 runs. Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins also managed to take a wicket each for 34 and 50 runs respectively.
