3rd ODI

After losing the ODI series against South Africa, India will look ahead to regain some pride by winning the final ODI & avoiding a series whitewash.

IND vs SA, 3rd ODI

South Africa took an unassailable lead against India by winning the second ODI of the three-match ODI series. After losing the ODI series against South Africa, India will look ahead to regain some pride by winning the final ODI & avoiding a series whitewash.

The third & final ODI will be a golden chance for Virat Kohli to end his two-year-long century drought. Virat Kohli had last registered a ton back in 2019 against Bangladesh in a day & night contest at the Eden Gardens. After that, he chipped in with several half-centuries but failed to reach the 100 runs mark. India had lost the first ODI by 31 runs & the second ODI by huge seven wickets to lose the three-match ODI series.

Talking about India’s performance, in the first two ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan & KL Rahul both displayed brilliance with the bat but failed to stitch together a valuable stand. The duo will hope to go strong together in the final ODI. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant starred with the bat by chipping in 85 runs in the second ODI & the swashbuckling wicket-keeper would look ahead to continue his gleaming form in the final ODI as well.

India’s bowling attack too looked fatal in the ongoing series

The duo of Iyers, Venkatesh Iyer & Shreyas Iyer have failed to impress with bat in the second ODI as well & it needs to be seen whether team management will bring in Suryakumar Yadav on the crease in the final ODI. India’s bowling attack too looked fatal in the ongoing series with Bhuvneshwar Kumar giving the worst performance of them all.

It looks like Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s form is diminishing & the team management will give a chance to Mohammed Siraj to prove his mettle who is currently being benched. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal have bowled probing spells but the wickets have kept on evading them. Only Jasprit Bumrah could display his heroics with the ball but the pacer failed to pick a wicket in the powerplay overs of the first & second ODI & this cost the ‘Men in Blue’ heavily as they failed to defend 287.

Talking about the Proteas squad, the team has displayed stellar performances & has shone brightly in both ODI & test series. The team has displayed great character & backed their historic test series win with an ODI series triumph. South Africa has outclassed visitors in all departments & would look to continue their dominance in the final ODI to register a series sweep over India.
