Samuel Eto’o prefers Mourinho’s coaching style

In 2010s coaching battle, the ultimate clash between attack and defence, but Samuel Eto’o, having won the Champions League under both coaches, has confirmed that he prefers Jose Mourinho’s style to that of Pep Guardiola. It’s been a massive success at Barcelona after arriving from Real Mallorca via Real Madrid, and he’s simply a club legend, after winning two Champions League trophies with the Blaugrana. However, he was then unceremoniously thrown by Guardiola as part of a transfer deal that took Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter to Barcelona. Yet, he would then win the Champions League to the Milanese club under the conservative leadership of Mourinho. “I’m more friends with Jose Mourinho’s style,” Eto’o explained in an interview.

“It’s a matter of style, and everyone has their path, I prefer Jose Mourinho. However, Pep is a top coach, so I don’t think you can make a decision. But I can tell you that there is no other coach, there is no other manager who will be able to motivate his players as much as Jose Mourinho. For me the treble with Jose is the special one”. Interestingly, Eto’o feels this way, especially when many young coaches achieve success and surpass the current level of Mourinho. “There are now more coaches with their style,” added Eto’o. “However, in terms of motivation and getting the most out of their players, that is Jose Mourinho.”
