Mauricio Pochettino held his first press conference at PSG. The Argentine coach talked about interesting topics.
Mauricio Pochettino held his first press conference as the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine specialist spoke about the condition of the team, possible transfers, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. According to Pochettino, his dream came true, and he is very happy to be back in Paris after a 17-year pause:
“The dream of returning to Paris has come true. I am happy to be here. The club has changed a lot since I left, but I have the same passion. I have a great responsibility, and I know what it means to coach PSG,” said Mauricio.
Pochettino was asked about the possible transfer of Lionel Messi. The Argentine star has long been linked with PSG, and the conversation has intensified since the appointment of Pocettino as a coach. However, he avoided asking about Messi:
“Santa Claus has been so generous with me that he has given me the opportunity to come back here. I’ll take this opportunity to thank President Nasser and Leonardo for their trust. There are always rumors about big teams like Paris Saint-Germain, but I just came to the club and first of all “I think so,” said the 48-year-old specialist.
If he avoided reading about Messi, he did not rule out the possibility of Christian Eriksen’s transfer and said that the club is considering all possibilities:
“There is no time to comment on transfer rumors. I am only here for a few days. We are following the recovery process of our injured players, talking to Leonardo and discussing all the possibilities we will have during this difficult period,” said the Argentine.
Finally, the South American commented on Kylian Mbappe and Neymar and believes that the more leaders a team has, the better:
“Mbappe is a great player who can play both on the wing and in the centre. The most important thing is to show his potential and talent on the pitch. When Neymar starts training with the team, we will find the best position for him to show himself best. We do not like “We are talking about game systems. We’re working to make every player, including Neymar, present themselves. We have several leaders and the more leaders there are, both on the pitch and in the locker room, the more useful it is for the club,” Pochettino added.
Recall that Mauricio Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel in Paris Saint-Germain. He signed a contract with the team until the summer of 2022.
