Schmeichel and Carragher have traded thorns over the signing of Man Utd Ronaldo, as the former Liverpool defender says he believes the deal will turn out badly for his former rivals.
A little about Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Manchester United this summer, returning to the club 12 years after he originally left for Real Madrid to continue his push to be considered one of the best of all time. And, with his return, Peter Schmeichel says Man Utd can now take it to the next level, while Jaime Carragher is not so sure.
Ronaldo is one of the greatest players
Jaime Carragher, on a call promoting CBS’s coverage of the Champions League in the US, said he had never seen so many ex-Man Utd players almost look lovingly struck by the Ronaldo sign, so this is a huge moment for them. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, no doubt about it, but Carragher actually thinks it could negatively impact Man Utd.
In response, Peter Schmeichel fired at the ex-Liverpool center, saying he believed Cristiano has what it takes to take Manchester United to the next level. The former goalkeeper of the red devils said he doesn’t think you said something wrong, but there is a word you said that he thinks it will. Schmeichel thinks you should say there is a negative effect. This is a big difference. Schmeichel does not think that there is a negative effect in that signing.
Schmeichel thinks this is the signature of the tent. This is one of the best signatures the club has made in 10 years, and this is what they, as fans, hoped for something of this caliber. People say that Cristiano passed the sale date, that he was not as good as when he was that Juve, but the fact is in his weak season, which three years ago in Juve, he scored 28 goals. He scored 37 goals last season.
If you can score half of that, or add half of those goals in the Man Utd season, then this is going to be a fantastic season. Also because of who Cristiano Ronaldo is, the experience he has internationally, it gives them the chance to compete at the very end in the Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain looks like an unbeatable team this season, but they have a lot of proof. And Liverpool too.
