Ronald Koeman survived the ship at the Camp Nou after an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, winning his second game in LaLiga against Celta Vigo.
Barcelona are united and ready to fight
Sergi Roberto admitted that Barcelona is now better prepared for matches than during the Champions League’s knockout stages this summer. Ronald Koeman has balanced the ship at the Camp Nou after an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, winning his second game in LaLiga against Celta Vigo. “We realized that we were not going into games well,” Sergi Roberto said at Balaidos. “We worked a lot in the preseason, and you can tell during the matches. The team all fought until the last minute and got an important victory. It was important to show the ambition and the fact that the team is ready for it. We put on the show with one less player. You can say that we are very united and ready for it.”
The team are happy that Messi is with them and he’s eager for them
Although he did not score, Lionel Messi was involved in most of Barcelona’s attacking game. “Leo is so focused, he left it all there,” added Sergi Roberto. “We are happy that he is with us and that he is so eager for us.” Unlike Messi, Sergi Roberto found his way to the scoresheet against Celta by finding the net in stoppage time. “I’m happy with the goal, but the best thing is that the team won,” said the right-back. Ansu Fati opened the scoring for Barcelona in the second game in a row. This blow was his 10th career goal in LaLiga. “He deserves to play,” Sergi Roberto said of the teenager. “He scores goals. I hope he keeps doing so because he’s going to help us a lot.”
Sergi Roberto was also asked about Barcelona drawing Juventus, Dynamo Kiev, and Ferencvaros in the Champions League group stages. “It’s tough,” the Catalan responded. “Not a single game is easy. The team watched the draw, and we are very excited. We are happy.”
